LotR and me

I have always been a great reader, I just love to sit down and start wandering in my dreams with a book in my hands. But I was always scared of reading "Lord of the Rings" by JRR Tolkien, I can't really recall why, maybe for his lenght and because I thought it was difficult and heavy to read. And now I don't really remember why I missed the first movie when it came out. Then I happened to be invited to see "The Two Towers" in the theatre by my best friend and I went, asking her when I didn't understand something. I got hooked. The story is so fantastic, the characters are all lovable and since I read the book in two weeks I became really obsessed. This book is doing to me what The One Ring does to everyone: it creates addiction. I've seen the movies several times, and I'm planning to read every year the book, maybe one day even in English (I read it in Italian), my second time will be after having read "The Silmarillion" (which I really loved despite everyone saying it's boring) and "The Hobbit". The relationship who caught me most is the one between Frodo Baggins, the Ring-Bearer and Samwise Gamgee, his beloved gardener and friend (who is my favourite character of all with Lady Éowyn). They are beyond words, their journey from heaven (the Shire) to hell (Mordor) is the powerful story of the strongest bonding between two friends who would do anything for each other. But I really love anything about LotR: how the Hobbits are the cutest thing in the world; the wisdom and the beauty of the Elves; the delicate love stories between Aragorn and Arwen or Faramir and Éowyn; the expression of high values like loyalty and friendship; how the Fellowship of the Ring worked together and apart for the great target, the victory over the bad. Summing up, this story gives me hope...Ae ú-esteliach nad... estelio han...
